Captain Paul Foer
Your host, Captain Paul Foer is one of the Chesapeake’s most experienced boat captains and has hosted thousands of guests on power and sailboat trips since 1979. Captain Paul is committed to your safety, comfort and enjoyment as he guides you and your guests on your FUNtastic Chesapeake sailing escape. He has received excellent reviews on Trip Advisor, Airbnb and was named a “Wizard of the Chesapeake” by SpinSheet magazine and the Eastport Yacht Club. After taking a six-day course with the National Park Service and Maryland Department of Commerce in 2020, he was certified as a “Chesapeake Story Teller.”
Captain Paul grew up boating on the Bay near Annapolis, received training from and volunteered with the Coast Guard Auxiliary, National Outdoor Leadership School, Chesapeake Area Professional Captains Association, US Naval Academy’s Safety at Sea Seminar, American Sailing Association, Hurricane Island Outward Bound School and Maritime Professional Training of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Captain Paul has operated hundreds of sail and power vessels from Maine to Florida, the Bahamas, Gulf of Mexico, St. Lawrence Seaway and Gulf Coast. He has sailed from Maryland to Puerto Rico and from Rhode Island to the British Virgin Islands.
Captain Paul obtained his B.A. from Hampshire College and an M.A. in journalism from The University of Maryland, wrote a weekly column with The Capital newspaper in Annapolis and hosted a daily radio program on 1430WNAV. He served as the assistant to the director of the USEPA Chesapeake Bay Program Office and was a writer with the Maryland Sea Grant Program. Hundreds of his articles and columns have appeared in a wide variety of national and local publications and he co-authored an award-winning children’s book “My Annapolis Adventure” and co-wrote “For Fishing, Family and Fun: Seven Decades of Communal Living by the Chesapeake Bay”. He has been a guest speaker/trainer in 20 states and Washington, DC., has performed live stand-up and improv comedy, speaks Spanish and has visited nearly every state and traveled in Canada, Latin America, Europe, The Middle East and the Caribbean.
